Digital Channels Backlash Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms. They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Updates Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Stories A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
